ASH Director James Truscott was invited to attend the opening ceremony of the new Clackmannanshire Bridge across the upper Forth near Kincardine. This historic event, inaugurated by Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond, marks over fifteen years of involvement by ASH in the project, as Landscape Architects and Employers' Representative
Involvement commenced in 1994, assisting Jacobs (formerly Babtie) on behalf of Transport Scotland with route options and alignment appraisals, through selection of preferred route and scheme design, environmental assessment, public inquiry, specimen design and overseeing the landscape works on site.
About the project
The landscape works, consisting of over 72,000 trees and shrubs, 84,000 hedging plants and 350,000 square metres of seeding has been overseen by ASH Landscape Architects John Devenny and Graeme Glencorse and is still ongoing. "We are very proud to have had such a key role in this project, which has also been a part of my life for so long now that I can't believe its finally completed" stated James and continued "...it's really gratifying to be so heavily involved in a project from start to finish and to have the satisfaction of seeing decisions taken on the drawing board coming to life on such a grand scale."
It is anticipated that ASH's role will continue with the monitoring of landscape maintenance works for the forseeable future, adding to our portfolio of other recently completed major roads projects such as M74, M77, A830 at Arisaig, A9 at Helmsdale and A78 Ardrossan Bypass.
