Inverlael Hydroelectric Scheme environmental statement
ASH project managed the production of the Environmental Statement and provided specialist landscape and visual, land use, recreation and planning inputs and co-ordinated inputs from specialist subconsultants on birds, habitats and animals, electrofishing, fresh water pearl mussels, cultural heritage, noise and vibration.
ASH advised Npower during the development of the design to minimise any adverse environmental impacts resulting from the scheme.
The Environmental Statement accompanied the Section 36 Application in January 2005. Consent was given by Scottish Ministers in summer 2007 and construction is programmed to start in 2008.
The proposal comprises two intakes on upland burns, a series of associated buried pipes to convey the water to a new powerhouse, two pipe bridges, a substation located within the powerhouse building and the construction of temporary and permanent access tracks.
