Social Inclusion Partnership Study
North Ayr SIP comprises of four communities each with a strong sense of identity. ASH's aims were to create links between these communities whilst respecting their individual characters. The proposals examined methods for the regeneration of community facilities and the open spaces associated with them, it also emphasised the importance of education throughout the process of design development and implementation.
Extensive research and community consultation revealed the greatest areas of need, prioritised within a series of treatment headings which included:
- Learning Landscapes and Linear Trails
- Gap Space Regeneration
- Residential Enhancement
The final report made recommendations for regeneration for over 50 spaces throughout the whole of North Ayr. A number of proposals were taken to sketch design stage as a first step in a large scale programme of environmental improvement. Two of these projects have now been implemented, using local Intermediate Labour Market (ILM) Resources.
