Electricity Transmission
At ASH, we provide environmental support to grid connection and transmission infrastructure projects throughout the UK.
ASH Design and Assessment works with transmission operators and developers, providing environmental assessment services in the development of new grid connections and the reinforcement of existing transmission infrastructure. This often involves our early engagement during the optioneering stage, right through to consent applications and post submission support.
Our role in these projects spans the entire development process, from inception / feasibility through route and site options appraisal, screening/scoping, site layout and iteration, environmental assessment, and site implementation.
We have worked on numerous overhead line transmission projects to connect renewable energy or energy storage projects, or as part of transmission upgrades and reinforcement, as well as a number of substation or switching station projects across Scotland.
ASH Design and Assessment has been retained to draft and co-ordinate construction environment management documents and landscape mitigation proposals (such as mounding and planting) to satisfy planning conditions for a number of these developments, as well as providing on-site advice and support as appropriate. We have provided on-site monitoring and environmental advice during the construction phase for projects such as Fetteresso Substation, Connagil Substation and Sloy Switching Station.
